Europe’s Biggest Data Journalism Event, by the European Journalism Centre, the Open Knowledge Foundation and the International Journalism Festival of Perugia!
Data Driven Journalism has changed the way we produce and communicate stories. But how can we succeed in finding a balance between planning the production, research and investigation, correct data collection, cleaning, analysis and finally producing beautiful and rich representations for the public? In this workshop you will learn how to conceive and plan for a data-driven story, from idea to development and publication, as well as tips for working with collaborators like designers, developers, etc. We will make sure you will leave the workshop with a checklist for deciding what stories are worthwhile.
Steve Doig, instructor of this workshop, is the Knight Chair in Journalism, specializing in computer-assisted reporting — the use of computers and social science techniques to help journalists do their jobs better.
